BAHAWALPUR: The Vehari Anti-Corruption Establishment on Tuesday registered a case against two Pakistan Tehreeki-i-Insaf MP brothers.

Reports said the ACE Vehari police station registered a case under sections 409 and 109 of the PPC and section 5/2/47 of the PCA. The complaint was filed by Riaz, a resident of Fatehpur village in Mailsi tehsil, against PTI MNA Aurangzeb Khichi and MPA Jahanzeb Khichi.

In his complaint, Riaz alleged that the MPs, in collusion with patwaris from the revenue department and officials from the Vehari District Council, used their political influence to take possession of irrigation department land and construct a market on it.

He alleged that to increase the market and commercial value of their personal housing town, they illegally carved out a road on 17 kanals of land belonging to the Auqaf department.

The ACE booked both brothers, along with their alleged front man Qaisar Abbas and two patwaris Iftikhar Khichi and Saqlain Shah. After the FIR was registered, the ACE began an inquiry against them.

The MPs’ close circles termed the case a political victimisation and vowed to contest it.

MURDER: A man was allegedly murdered in mysterious circumstances at village 565/EB in the limits of Machiwal police station in Vehari district on Tuesday.

Imran’s parents alleged that his wife Salma was involved in the murder while they also nominated five people Shaukat Ali, his son Rafaqat, Babar and two others.

Police shifted the body to Machiwal health centre.
