DEADLINE EXTENSION: Against the advertisement published by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for the vacancies of lecturers, I paid the challan fee on June 27. Meanwhile, a family tragedy in early July left me in a state of deep grief, and consequently, the entire process of submitting my online application remained incomplete. I thought the extended submission date might be July 11 because that was the deadline for all the other posts that were advertised. But it was not so. Different cut-off dates for different posts only caused confusion, and there are many who suffered on this count. The SPSC should, therefore, consider extending the cut-off date so that all the aspirants may submit their applications.

SECURITY PERSONNEL: This refers to the report ‘5 security personnel martyred in KP’ (July 10). I wonder why we cannot use unmanned drones, like the Americans do while sitting thousands of miles away in Arizona and controlling and manoeuvring from there without losing a single soul. Is that too hard for us? If Iran can use and supply these drones to Azerbaijan, why can we not do the same? When we can let the Americans use our bases to do the same, how come we are unable to do that ourselves? Why do we have to continue losing our security personnel again and again?

TRANSPORTATION ISSUE: Hub, the industrial area of Balochistan, lacks a proper transportation system. Students, teachers and workers face difficulties while commuting to their destinations every day. Recently, while walking home from the library, not a single bus was available, and I had to rely on an auto-rickshaw, which was in poor condition and had no proper seats. As a result, I spent the entire night with leg pain and mental distress. Local and provincial authorities need to launch a public bus service in Hub city on an urgent basis in order to address this pressing issue.
