The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has called for global action to help Palestinians recover the bodies of more than 10,000 people who are missing under the rubble of buildings destroyed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reports.

The rights group also has accused Israel’s military of preventing and obstructing the recovery of victims and missing people, including by targeting civil defense crews, rescue teams, and families trying to recover bodies.

Israel’s military has also prevented the entry of equipment needed for rescue operations as well as the entry of fuel necessary to operate heavy machinery in Gaza.
