LAKKI MARWAT: Elders of Tajori town have threatened to launch a protest against delay in completing a road project in the area, despite assurances from the local administration and authorities of the provincial communication and works department.

The elders met in Tajori town on Saturday to discuss ongoing uplift projects and problems faced by local residents. They expressed concern about the snail’s pace of work on Malang Adda-Tajori road and said that the delay had caused much inconvenience for transporters and the general public.

The elders warned that local residents would stage a protest sit-in at Tajori if construction work on the road was not completed by 15th of this month.

ARMS DISPLAY BANNED: The District administrations banned display of arms, pillion riding and use of tinted glasses in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts during the month of Muharram.

Officials said on Saturday that the district authorities of Bannu and Lakki Marwat had issued separate notifications to this effect to ensure peace and harmony during Muharram.

They said that standing on rooftops of buildings and houses along the routes of processions.

The officials said that the restrictions would remain enforced for 15 days and that the violators would be dealt with as per law.

MUHARRAM MEETINGS: Lakki Marwat District Police Officer (DPO) Taimur Khan chaired two separate meetings at his office on Saturday to review security arrangements for Muharram and ensure peaceful observance of Ashura with the support of religious scholars and local peace bodies.

SP investigation Murad Khan, DSPs, SHOs, elders of Shia and Sunni sects and members of the peace committee attended the meetings.

The DPO told the elders and members of peace body that police had made foolproof security plans for peaceful observance of 10th of Muharram in the district.

He instructed the police officials to keep an eye on movements of suspects and anti-social elements, and ensure scanning of routes before the start of Muharram processions.
