PESHAWAR: The Peshawar administration has imposed a ban on transportation of tomatoes out of the district, according to an official notification issued here on Friday.

The notification issued from the office of the deputy commissioner said the administration had come to know about the unregulated transportation of tomatoes from the district, causing its shortage and increasing its price.

The ban was imposed under Section 144 of CrPC for 10 days. However, the government agencies involved in transportation of tomatoes for official purpose besides licensed traders with valid permits issued by the district administration were exempt from the restriction.

The deputy commissioner directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to enforce the order strictly.
