ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid on Friday briefed the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq about the ongoing and recently launched initiatives of the programme.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq congratulated Rubina Khalid on assuming her new role as chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme.

Rubina Khalid said the programme played an important role in the economic empowerment of women and reiterated her commitment to serve the marginalised segments of the society through the programme.

“Benazir Income Support Programme is dedicated to provide essential support to the most vulnerable communities, particularly focusing on the economic empowerment of women.

We are committed to enhancing the programme’s reach and impact to ensure that no one is left behind,” said Ms Khalid.

The National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed his support for the programme and wished Ms Rubina Khalid success in her endeavors.

“The Benazir Income Support Programme is vital for the socio-economic uplift of marginalised communities, and I wish for its continued success under Rubina Khalid’s leadership,” he stated.

In a separate meeting later in the day, Central Additional General Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party, Engineer Mohammad Humayun Khan, met Rubina Khalid at the Benazir Income Support Programme headquarters.

The discussion focused on issues faced by women beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Programme in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly concerning stipend disbursement and the provision of necessary facilities.

Rubina Khalid assured the PPP general secretary that all problems faced by the beneficiaries would be promptly addressed. Our priority is to ensure that every woman in need receives the support she deserves without any delays,” she added.
