PESHAWAR, March 18: Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the culprits responsible for the last month’s Hangu carnage would be taken to task. This he said while talking to a 13-member delegation, led by adviser to chief minister Allama Ramzan Tauqeer, at the Frontier House, on Saturday.

Terming the Hangu violence most deplorable, Mr Durrani said it resulted in the killing of innocent people and loss of public and private properties. He said some self-centred elements wanted to disturb the law and order in the province, otherwise complete harmony prevailed between the two sects before the violence broke out.

The chief minister said the damages caused due to the bloodshed in Hangu would be assessed in the light of the recommendations of a committee set up for the purpose.

Mr Durrani said although the damages were too high, but the provincial government would try its utmost to compensate the victims in the available resources.

Regarding the law and order in Hangu, he said he had asked the prime minister to provide additional FC men to set up more FC check posts. He promised concrete planning to maintain peace in Hangu so that lives and property of the people could be protected.
