ISLAMABAD: The outgoing Belgian ambassador, Charles Delogne, has said in Pakistan, it was very easy to make friends you want to keep all your life.
He was addressing a farewell reception held in his honour by Shahid Rashid Butt, who is the honorary consul general of Ghana, at his residence in Islamabad.
The host, Shahid Rashid Butt, said during his tenure, Ambassador Delogne made significant strides in strengthening diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Belgium.
His efforts were recognised at the reception, where it was noted that he had not only promoted diplomatic relations but also worked extensively on the economic front.
Mr Delogne visited numerous business institutions and engaged with various presidents of chambers of commerce to build robust trade relations between the two countries.

The host praised the ambassador for his role in fostering strong bilateral ties and highlighted the cultural activities organised by the ambassador to acquaint Pakistanis with Belgian culture.
Last year, Charles Delogne hosted a grand King’s Day function, also marking 75 years of cordial diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Belgium.
This celebration was followed by Belgium Week, which introduced Pakistanis to Belgian music, theatre and art, further strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
Throughout his time in Pakistan, Ambassador Delogne presented national awards to Pakistanis who contributed to enhancing bilateral relations. Shahid Rashid Butt was one of the recipients of such an award, recognising his efforts in this regard.
Guests at the farewell acknowledged the warm hospitality extended by Ambassador Delogne and his wife, who often opened their home to friends in Pakistan.
The ambassador expressed his gratitude to the gathering and announced his upcoming posting to Luxembourg.
Reflecting on his two-year tenure in Pakistan, Ambassador Delogne said: “Two years in Pakistan were somewhat short, but we had the luck to contribute significantly.”
The farewell reception concluded with well wishes for Ambassador Delogne and his wife as they embarked on their new journey.
