GUJRAT: Wife of an expat and his young daughter were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their house in Raika village near Phalia Town of Mandi Bahauddin on Wednesday.

As per police sources, the bodies, which seemed to be three to four days old, were discovered by locals, who went to the house as both women had not been in contact with anyone in the neighbourhood for a couple of days.

After finding the bodies of 55-year-old Zahra and her daughter Zainab (20) lying in the house, the locals informed the police.

The police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Phalia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where doctors later conducted the autopsy.

The family head, Aurangzaib, had been doing a job in Dubai for long.

Mandi Bahauddin District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmed Mohyuddin visited the village and inspected the house where the bodies had been found, whereas forensic experts also collected evidence from the scene.

Police say the cause of their death could only be ascertained after the autopsy report and forensic tests.

The DPO has constituted a special team to investigate the matter.
