CHARSADDA: The residents of Tangi Sherpao blocked Tangi-Charsadda Road by erecting tents on it to protest excessive and unannounced power loadshedding.

A large number of locals came on the road in protest early in the morning and blocked it to all kinds of vehicular traffic.

They were chanting slogans against Peshawar Electric Supply Company and government.

The protesters urged people to boycott polio vaccination till the end of what they called hours-long power loadshedding.

Addressing the protestors, QWP leaders including former union council nazims Fazal Dayan, Shehryar Shah, Ibrahim Mohmand and others said that more than 20 hours power loadshedding in the area was unjustified.

They alleged that despite repeated meetings with Pesco officials, the situation was worsening.

They alleged that electricity tariff was being increased with each passing day by imposing new taxes on consumers.

They said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the most affected province in the country with regard to power outages.

Speakers said that residents of the province voted for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf for third consecutive time but instead of facilitating them, the government of the party multiplied their miseries.

They said that PTI government completely failed as lawmakers were not concerned about the people of their constituencies.

They said that tug-of-war between chief minister and governor further aggravated the situation.
