RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has prepared a plan to spend Rs11 billion on land record offices and residences of administration officials in the six districts of the Rawalpindi Division in the fiscal year 2024-25.
The board had planned 33 schemes to improve and reconstruct government official residences at a cost of Rs11 billion in the six districts of the division.
A senior board official told Dawn that 33 new schemes had been proposed for the new annual development plan under which Rs700 million will be spent on five schemes in Attock, Rs3.1 billion on six schemes in Chakwal, Rs2.2 billion on eight schemes in Jhelum, Rs5.3 billion on Murree’s six schemes and Rs320 million on eight schemes in Rawalpindi.
He said that in the current fiscal year, 35 schemes were approved for government offices and official residences in the Rawalpindi division and the government released Rs1.178 billion. So far, Rs816 million have been spent on the construction of buildings.
“There is a proposal to spend Rs110 million on the office of Attock deputy commissioner , Rs60 million on the Tehsil revenue office in Attock, Rs180 million on the tehsil complex Fatehjang, Rs180 million on tehsil complex Pindigheb and Rs170 million on the Tehsil complex Jand,” he said.
There was also a plan to spend Rs3.1 billion on the construction of the assistant commissioner and additional deputy commissioner revenue houses in Chakwal, Choa Syedan Shah, Kallar Kahar and the office complex for Talagang administration.
For Jhelum, Rs2.2 billion will be spent on construction of the district administration complex, deputy commissioner office, Sohawa tehsil complex and deputy commissioner house.
For Murree, Rs5.3 billion will be spent on the district administration complex, residences of the deputy commissioner, additional deputy commissioners general, revenue, finance and planning and headquarters.
In Rawalpindi, Rs320 million will be spent on construction of residences for additional deputy commissioners general, revenue, finance and planning and headquarters, construction of houses for assistant commissioner Taxila and Kallar Syedan. Only Rs15 million will be spent on reconstruction of Bakhshi Khana in the district courts.
The senior official of the Board of Revenue said the board had asked the district administrations of all the districts to complete the ongoing 35 schemes as soon as possible. He said if the funds lapsed in June end, it would be difficult for the district administrations to get back the funds in August and the construction cost may escalate in next three months.
