HARIPUR: Minister for higher education Meena Khan Afridi has said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to improving the higher education sector with focus on cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.

He stated this while addressing the participants of the third convocation of the University of Haripur here on Saturday.

The minister emphasised the government’s commitment to prioritising higher education in the province.

He said the government aimed to integrate cybersecurity and AI into the university curricula to empower the youth.

On this occasion, the students were awarded associate degrees in various disciplines, including BS, M.Phil, and PhD.

The minister alongside Vice-Chancellor Shafiqur Rahman and MPA Malik Adeel Iqbal encouraged students to utilise their acquired skills for the advancement of their province and country.

Sharing the government’s dedication to enhance higher education sector in line with the vision of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Meena Afridi also spoke about the financial challenges of some universities in the region, and assured them of addressing their genuine needs and problems.

He eulogised the Haripur varsity’s commendable efforts towards attaining self-sufficiency. He assured that the issue regarding agricultural land for research purposes would be promptly addressed.

VC Prof Shafiqur Rehman presented the progress report and demands of the university to the minister.
