DERA GHAZI KHAN: A meeting of the divisional intelligence committee held at the commissioner office on Wednesday decided deployment of Rangers at two inter-provincial police posts, including terrorist-hit Jhangi check point established at Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boundary.
Dera Ghazi Khan Regional Police Officer retired Capt Sajjad Hasan Khan and Commissioner Dr. Nasir Mehmood presided over the meeting.
Divisional heads of security agencies, including district police officers and deputy commissioners from all districts of Dera Ghazi Khan division, also participated.
A detailed review of security measures in the tri-border areas, the security of inter-provincial check posts, threat alerts, and challenges was conducted.
It was decided to deploy Rangers at Hazrat Umar Farooq (Jhangi) and Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (Lakhani) posts to enhance provincial boundary security.
Directives were issued to tighten security further at inter-provincial check posts, facilitate timely information exchange among law-enforcement agencies, and ensure quick responses to emergencies. During the meeting, tributes were paid to the Punjab police for repelling the terrorist attack on the Jhangi check post.
RPO Sajjad Hasan Khan instructed all DPOs to proactively address threat alerts and challenges, conduct on-ground self-inspections, and maintain readiness for emergencies. Mock exercises for immediate responses should be conducted, and coordination with other agencies should be prioritised.
The DPOs should complete the ongoing construction work at the check posts as soon as possible, complete surveillance with thermal dome cameras and the jawans posted on duty should be kept alert at all times.
During the meeting, Commissioner Dr. Nasir Mahmood said the government was providing all the resources including modern weapons, bullet proof and armoured vehicles at the inter-provincial check posts. Roads would be reconstructed as directed by the government to ease traffic in tri-border areas.
