SWABI: Unidentified robbers snatched Rs2 million from a man at gunpoint here on Monday, the police said.

Filing an FIR with the Topi city police station, Rasool Khan said he was going to deposit the money at a bank when two robbers riding a motorcycle stopped him near a hospital and snatched the amount from him at gunpoint.

He said he could identify the robbers through their faces.

The daylight robbery occurred in a busy market about half a kilometre from Swabi city police station and the office of the district police officer.

“We are conducting raids and have also obtained the footage of CCTV cameras, and hope the robbers will be traced soon,” said a police official.

ARRESTED: The police foiled an attempt to smuggle charas by arresting a man on Monday.

A team led by DSP Chota Lahor Fazal Sher Khan and SHO Altaf Khan stopped a motorcycle on the service road of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in Jalsai Lar area. The police recovered five packets containing over five kilogrammes hashish and 510 grams of ice drug.

The accused - Abu Bakr, a resident of Nabi village Chota Lahor, was taken into custody.

KILLED: A man killed his wife with a dagger in Chota Lahor area here the other day, the police said.

They said the incident occurred in Jalbai village.

They said Mohammad Nabi killed his wife with a dagger inside a room. They said the reason behind the incident could not be ascertained.

His son told the Tordher police his father was mentally-disturbed and was under treatment. The body was shifted to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
