ISLAMABAD: Showcasing fine art and exquisite crafts, a new exhibition “Blurring boundaries” opened at Lok Virsa on Thursday.

Ambassador of Portugal Frederico Silva announced the exhibition open for the art lovers. The exhibition has been organised by Nomad Gallery, featuring selected works from four artists hailing from different regions of the country, captivating art enthusiasts and dignitaries alike.

Ambassador Frederico Silva, respected for his knowledge in history particularly the connections between Portugal and South Asia, including Pakistan and India, demonstrated his passion for art and cultural exchange. He emphasised the importance of fostering cultural linkages between nations, serving as a beacon for promoting bilateral ties.

The event drew guests from the diplomatic community, including Ambassador of Morocco Mohamed Karmoun, Ambassador of Jordan Maen Khreasat, Ambassador of Palestine Ahmed Ameen and acting Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan Saeedjon Shafi. They commended the young artists and their contributions to the vibrant art scene.

Visitors were treated to a diverse array of artwork by artists Samina A. Akhtar, Sumera Jawad, Ubaid Syed, Nadir A. Jamali and Hassnain Awais, each offering unique perspectives on personal, political and social themes. The exhibition provided an immersive experience, delving into the cultural, historical and social aspects of the artists’ backgrounds.

Ambassador Frederico Silva praised the diversity of Pakistan, acknowledging its rich historical and cultural heritage. He lauded Pakistan as a convergence point of various civilisations and cultural traditions, including the illustrious Indus and Gandhara civilisations, the Mughal era and the renowned Pahari painting scene.

The event also recognised Pakistan’s significant contributions to human history and cultural achievements, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping the global cultural landscape. The exhibition served as a celebration of Pakistan’s rich cultural tapestry and a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship between nations.

Alongside the exhibition, the visitors also got the chance to discover an exquisite collection of crafts curated by artisans from across the country.

As Nomad Gallery celebrated 40 years of fostering artistic expression and advocating for women and communities, the show was a tribute to local heritage and creativity.
