KASUR: On the orders of Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, the chief executive officer of the district education authority suspended four officials from service after a student of Class-III was left in the class before the school building was locked.

The minister launched an inquiry into the incident that happened at the Government Girls School Mustafabad.

Afia, the third-grader, had fallen asleep in her class. She did not wake up after the day finished and all her classmates and teachers left the school.

The watchman locked the classroom as well as the school building without checking the classroom. When the child woke up after a few hours, she raised a hue and cry and called for help from the window of the classroom that was, fortunately, linked to the street.

The locals noticed the child and informed the watchman who opened the school building to get her out. The locals also made a video and uploaded it on social media that alerted the authorities.

After the minister took notice of the incident, the district education authorities suspended from service headmistress Shakeela Majeed, Assistant Education Officer Nida Sadiq, class in-charge Kausar Parveen and watchman Muhammad Arshad and launched an inquiry.
