SWABI: Two people were electrocuted and a minor girl died on road in separate incidents here on Friday.

Aamir Khan, an electrician by profession, was busy removing a fault in a transformer to restore power supply in Doubian village of Razaar tehsil when he was electrocuted. The local people had called him to remove the fault as they feared Peshawar Electric Supply Company officials would take days to fix the fault.

After the accident, the deceased got stuck in the power cables for about four hours. The people protested the apathy of the authorities to bring the body down.

They also vandalised a Pesco vehicle, and raised slogans against the ‘incompetency’ of the power utility.

In a similar development, a privately-hired electrician got electrocuted when he was removing a fault in Kalabat village of Topi tehsil.

The people took him to hospital, whose doctors pronounced him dead. The deceased was identified as Shamsul Hadi.

Meanwhile, a speeding rickshaw struck and killed a seven-year-old girl in Maini village when she was crossing a road.

The deceased was daughter of Akhtar Iqbal.

Also in the day, two people were injured when two motorcycles collided in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate’s Road No 12.

Rescuers shifted them to Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Shahmansoor.

The injured were identified as Rafiullah Khan, 22, and Dayan Khan, 27.

DEAD CHICKEN SEIZED: The district administration on Friday arrested two persons and seized a large quantity of dead chicken from a vehicle.

Swabi assistant commissioner Allah Nawaz Khan seized the meat in Gohati area.

ARRESTED: The police on Friday arrested two fraudsters.

SHO Topi city police station Niaz Ali said Saqib Khan and Mohib Shah, residents of Maini area, were arrested on the complaint of an elderly person for transferring his property in their name.

The police arrested Aqil Khan of Topi city for committing a murder three years ago.

They also arrested a man for killing his brother 10 days ago in Yar Hussain village.

SHO Yar Hussain police station Haroon Khan said Hasan Khan was arrested from Mohallah New Islamabad, who confessed to killing his brother over a dispute on a shared house.
