MANSEHRA: Two people were killed and three injured when a jeep fell into a stream in Kandia area of Upper Kohistan district on Tuesday.

“We retrieved the injured and the deceased from the stream and shifted them to a nearby health facility,” a Rescue 1122 official told reporters.

He said the vehicle carrying passenger was on its way to Kandia from Kamila area when the driver lost control over the steering while traversing a steep bumpy road.

People from the nearby locality rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dasu. The deceased were identified as Merbaz Khan, 55, and Shahabuddin, 8.

Doctors said condition of two of the injured was critical.

Meanwhile, residents protested the dilapidated condition of the road, causing accidents.

They said most of the link roads in Kandia valley were washed away in flash floods and the government was yet to rebuild them. They demanded the government ensure early rehabilitation of roads.
