DISILLUSIONED YOUTH: With frequent changes in leadership, corruption scandals and power struggles dominating the political narrative, Pakistan’s young have become frustrated and disillusioned. The lack of political stability undermines their faith in government, and hinders their ability to imagine a prosperous future for themselves in the country. It is imperative that the leaders recognise the need to address the root causes of political unrest, and create an enabling environment for youth empower- ment. By enhancing stability, transparency and prioritising the needs of young generation, Pakistan can harness the true potential of its youth as a catalyst for a positive change and development.

RAINS IN GWADAR: The recent heavy rains destroyed the infrastructure of Gwadar city, washed away houses, and left people stranded. Many areas are still inundated. The stagnant water puts people at risk of various diseases. It has also disturbed the business community. The city lacks a proper sewerage system which hinders the drainage of water. The apathy of government is lamentable. The government needs to help the affected people and complete the pending infrastructure projects in Gwadar to avoid rain casualties in the future.

ISOLATED COMMUTERS: The unavailability of a reliable public transportation system in Karachi’s Scheme 33 Gulzar-i-Hijri area compels the residents to rely on ride-hailing apps. These services are unreliable, too. Cab drivers frequently cancel rides citing concerns about street crimes in the area. Now, the situation has caused a sense of isolation among the residents, and affects their ability to commute on a daily basis. It disproportionately affects those who cannot afford private vehicles. The authorities concerned should improve the prevalent situation in the area and ensure equitable access to transportation for all residents of Gulzar-i-Hijri.
