KARACHI: The provincial government on Wednesday fixed the support price of wheat at Rs4,000 per 40 kg.

The decision to this effect was taken in the maiden meeting of the provincial cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Food Minister Jam Khan Shoro told the cabinet that a stock of 400,000 tonnes of wheat was available with the food department.

He said that the food department after deliberations and discussions decided to fix a target of 900,000 tonnes of wheat to be procured for the crop 2023-24 at a support price of Rs4,000 per 40 kg.
