IRREPLACEABLE SPARK

IRREPLACEABLE SPARK: This is with reference to the letter ‘Teacher versus AI’ (Feb 14). While technology offers valuable tools, it cannot replicate the irreplaceable human touch in the classroom. Artificial intelligence (AI) is no replacement for the human touch to the process of education. Teachers are psychologists, mentors and cheerleaders for their students. Their ability to adapt, inspire and create a warm, engaging environment is unmatched by any robotic algorithm. The human element in education should be greatly valued. Replacing teachers with slides leads to passive learning, and diminishes the educational experience. Tech- nology can surely assist, but never replace the human spark that teachers offer.

DATE CLASH: While announcing dates for various examinations, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) and the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) do not seem to care about any possible overlap. Preparing for such critical exams, thus, becomes an arduous task for the students. Apparently, all it needs is some basic coordination between the two agencies. One wonders why it is so difficult to ensure something so essential.

INTELLECTUAL BANKRUPTCY: I recently watched a TV show wherein the host handed out huge prizes to those taking part in frivolous, inane competitions. Why can we not have quiz shows on Islam, Pakistan and science? Why can we not have debating contests? Why do we not promote merit, intelligence and brilliance? Why do we encourage frivolities?

WAIT CONTINUES: The decade-long water crisis across Johi has forced people to migrate from the area. During the recent election campaign, promises of water provision were made by politicians of all shades and hues. Can these people truly bring relief to the parched lands of Johi?
