ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ahmed Nael Qureshi and Hamza Roman advanced to the quarter-finals of the ITF Pakistan Khawar Hyat Khan Memorial World Junior Championship Leg-1 after winning their respective matches on Wednesday.

Ahmed defeated Thailand’s Papangkorn Bunyarit 6-1, 6-1 while Hamza downed compatriot Ahtesham Humayun 6-4, 6-1 in their round-of-16 clashes.

In the women’s category, Amna Ali Qayum of Pakistan confirmed a last-eight berth after beating Deren Cetinakaya of Turkiye 6-1, 6-3.

Following a one-day break on Tuesday, dedicated to mourning the sudden demise of junior tennis player Zainab Ali Naqvi from Karachi, the championship resumed on Wednesday.

The SDA-PTF Complex saw a flurry of singles and doubles matches, showcasing the talents of 45 foreign and 27 local players participating in the event.
