GUJRANWALA: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday inaugurated the Gujran-wala Expressway, connecting the city with the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M-11).

The two-lane expressway, covering a distance of 15.2km, reduces the travel time between Gujranwala and Lahore to 45 minutes.

About 8,500 vehicles are expected to travel on the road daily, ensuring convenient and efficient travel for thousands of passengers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naqvi announced plans for a commercial area along the expressway and construction of an overhead bridge, connecting it to Chan Da Qilla.

He commended the high quality construction work and lauded the performance of the Frontier Works Organisation, the Communication and Works Department and various other stakeholders.

Mr Naqvi also inaugurated the Gujranwala Safe City Project and Police Service Centre.

During his visit to the Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control, and Communication Centre, he observed the CCTV camera system for monitoring security.

Calling the Gujranwala Safe City employees as the eyes and ears of the police, he urged them to combat crime as dedicated fighters.

IGP Dr Usman Anwar briefed the CM on the facilities being offered at the Police Service Centre.

Provincial ministers Dr Javed Akram, Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Bilal Afzal, Punjab Safe Cities Authority MD Ahsan Younis the chief secretary, inspector general police, the chairman Planning and Development Board, secretaries of health, housing, communication and works, the commissioner Gujranwala and others were present.
