QUETTA: Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said that after every five years “artificial and fake” representation is imposed on the people through rigged elections in Balochistan, but this time people will not accept such individuals as their representatives.

Speaking at a public meeting in connection with his election campaign in Awaran district, Mr Mengal urged people not to cast their votes for such fake candidates.

He expressed his regret upon observing the condition of roads when he was travelling to Awaran from Lasbela and said it deeply saddened him to see that those who have been in government from Awaran for the past several years have shown no concern for the rights and welfare of the people.

Akhtar Mengal said his party always speaks in defence of the coastal resources of Balochistan and missing persons, adding that he would continue to raise these issues whether on the floor of the assembly or among the people.

Referring to efforts to prevent him from participating in the elections, he said that there has been a concerted effort to stop him from speaking about the rights of Balochistan and its people.

He mentioned the disappearances of thousands of youngsters in various areas of Balochistan, including Awaran, and highlighted the challenges faced by Dr Mahrang Baloch, who is advocating for the recovery of missing Baloch individuals in Islamabad.

Sardar Mengal mentioned his electoral alliance with Sardar Mohammad Aslam Bhootani and urged the people to vote for candidates who will fulfil their national duties.

On the occasion, Nasarullah Ronjho, a leader of the PPP, announced his alliance with Mr Bhootani and Mr Mengal for the upcoming elections.
