NAROWAL: Unknown people reportedly fired at the motorcade of Ahmed Iqbal, son of former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, here on Saturday. Ahmed Iqbal and his companions remained unhurt.

Driver Nadeem Akhtar told police that Iqbal was going from Zafarwal to village Noonar on Friday in connection with the election campaign of his father in PP-54 when his caravan of eight vehicles was fired upon near the town of Dhamthal.

He said the Narowal DPO was immediately informed about the firing.

Ahsan Iqbal said that they were not afraid of cowardly acts. His rival Daniyal Aziz said the FIR was baseless, meant to gain political milage.

Narowal DPO Rana Tahir Rehman Khan said police were looking into the matter.
