SWABI: Two women and a minor girl of the same family were killed and two others injured when a car they were travelling in fell into the Gohati Canal during dense fog here on Friday night, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said the incident occurred in Tat Koroono area of Gohati region, and the ill-fated family was returning after visiting relatives.

Local people and relatives of the deceased told Dawn that the driver drove the car straight into the canal due to narrow road and dense fog.

Soon after receiving information, a Rescue 1122 team reached the spot, retrieved the three bodies and two injured from the waters and shifted them to the Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor.

The deceased were identified as wife and minor daughter of Bakhth Shad and wife of Kamal Khan.

Meanwhile, a man died when his car rammed into a roadside electricity pole during dense fog near Batakara Bridge in Topi tehsil, rescue officials said. They added that the victim was identified as Ishfaq Gul.

Also in the day, two buses of Women University Swabi collided with other vehicles on Swabi-Topi Road during foggy conditions, but no casualty was reported.
