LAHORE: Three members of a family were burnt alive in a house fire in Chuhng on Saturday.

The victims identified as Iftikhar (50), his wife Samina (45) and their daughter Iram (25) were asleep on the first floor of their house in Shadab Colony when the fire broke out.

The neighbours alerted the police and Rescue 1122. The teams from the rescue service, fire brigade, and Edhi Foundation rushed to the scene and began efforts to extinguish the fire.

However, the narrow streets of the colony posed a challenge to the rescue operation, delaying entry into the house by an hour.

The rescue teams recovered three bodies and shifted them to a nearby morgue for identification.

The rescue teams could not ascertain the cause of the fire yet.

In a separate incident on Kacha Jail Road, a man lost his life, and two others were injured due to an electric shock.

The victims identified as Javed (33) Ramzan (35) and Hafeez (23) were installing a panaflex on an electric pole when they accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage wire.

Javed succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Ramzan and Hafeez were rushed to hospital for treatment.
