PESHAWAR: Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime circle on Friday arrested two persons over online harassment.

An FIA statement said a woman had lodged a complaint with the cybercrime’s Abbottabad circle, alleging that Hammad Jan Nisar and Mohammad Bilal had shared her obscene images on social media platform WhatsApp.

“The men were blackmailing the complainant and had threatened to assault her family members,” the statement said, adding they would use international WhatsApp numbers for sending threatening messages to the complainant.

The accused were arrested in a raid carried out by an FIA team in Abbottabad. The team also recovered four cellular phones and mobile SIM cards. The phones were sent for forensic analysis, and a case was registered against the two.

Meanwhile, the agency’s commercial banking circle arrested a man for human smuggling the other day. Officials said Naeem Khan, a proclaimed offender, was arrested during a raid in Mardan.

The officials said Naeem had deprived a citizen of Rs6.6 million for sending him to Poland.
