LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices to the caretaker federal and Punjab governments on a petition of Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, against non-provisions of details of cases registered against her.
Bushra Bibi’s lawyer argued that there was no case against the petitioner before the ‘illegal’ removal of her husband from the prime minister’s office, but after his ouster, she was being targeted for political reasons.
The lawyer said the petitioner was being asked by the respondents to submit a new request every day and the details of the cases were not being provided to her.
He argued that it was a fundamental and constitutional right to know the details of the cases, but it was unclear how many inquiries and cases were pending against the petitioner.
The counsel asked the court to order the respondents to provide details of the cases against the petitioner.
A two-judge bench headed by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry issued notices to the respondents for submission of replies by Nov 20.
