Tennis: Double success for Nasir

KARACHI, Feb 12: Living up to his billing, top seed Nasir Mushtaq advanced to the next round of juniors U-17 singles in the Open tennis championship at Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday.

He was in a punishing mood and outplayed his opponent Azeem straight 6-0, 6-0 to register his win.

Nasir also cruised into the next stage of men’s singles after he chalked up 7-6, 3-0 victory over Gul Hameed who was compelled to retire following knee injury in the second set.

Fourth seed Nomi Qamar also had an easy 6-1, 6-1 sailing over Robin Das to enter the third round.

Rizwan Shamsi and Khalid Ali Nazar were also through to the next stage of men’s singles.
