ISLAMABAD: Celebrations on the occasion of the National Foundation Day of Korea drew a number of diplomats and local dignitaries at the residence of the country’s ambassador on Friday.
The residence of Korean Ambassador Park Kijun buzzed with excitement as he welcomed envoys, members of the armed forces and local dignitaries. The foundation day also coincided with the Armed Forces Day of Korea.
A welcoming reception was followed by a formal programme, and Ambassador Park Kijun highlighted the history and significance of his country, offering a moment of reflection on the nation’s journey towards peace and prosperity.
Ambassador Park Kijun also expressed commitment to strengthening ties between Pakistan and Korea, which he said were rooted in shared values. He told his guests that this year held a special place in the hearts marking the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Korea and Pakistan.
“Since 1983, our bond has deepened and diversified, spanning areas from politics and economy to culture and collaborative development. As we reflect upon our shared journey, it is essential to not only value our past accomplishments but also set our sights on a future filled with bright new promises,” the ambassador said.
As Pakistan channeled all its vigour towards national progress, he said: “Korea, with its wealth of experience and technological advancement, stands ready to support and partake in Pakistan’s endeavours. We are committed to fostering a partnership that reaps mutual benefits, ensuring our combined strengths produce greater results. The Korean embassy, too, is dedicated to this shared vision. Let’s also remember the core essence of this evening: the enduring friendship between Korea and Pakistan. Let it be a symbol of unity, and may each of you carry forward this spirit of friendship,” he said.
After the speeches, the night came alive with the vibrancy of taekwondo displays, captivating K-Pop dances, and the flavours of Korean cuisine.
