LARKANA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s ‘Peace March’ that had began from Khairpur on Oct 22, reached Larkana on Wednesday.

The marchers assembled at Jinnah Bagh Chowk where the party leaders made speeches.

JUI-F Sindh general secretary Rashid Mehmood Soomro, who led the march, said they would continue their journey and reach Karachi on Nov 2 where the party chief Fazlur Rahman would address the protesters.

He said the rousing welcome the caravan had received in different towns it had passed through proved that people of Sindh had gotten sick of the massive corruption and bad governance.

Dr Safdar Abbasi, general secretary of Grand Democratic Alliance, former GDA MPA from Larkana Moazzim Abbasi and other leaders also addressed the marchers.

He slammed Pakistan Peoples Party’s policy of dishing out its islands, natural resources, land etc against the will of people of the province to fill their coffers.

He said that highway robberies, street crime, dacoities and burglaries had become order of the day which had enveloped people in fear.

He painted the pathetic picture of Larkana’s hospitals, and state of education and alleged that despite pumping huge amounts of funds into the hospitals the facilities were not delivering.
