SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leaders, addressing participants of the 10-day ‘Peace March’ started by the party on Saturday, said that people of Sindh had become fed up with traditional leaders and feudal lords; they now want a change.

The march, which set off from Khairpur, reached Kandhkot on Monday.

JUI-F Sindh general secretary Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro said that feudal lords had destroyed Sindh. People were deprived of basic facilitates such as health, education and sanitation, he said.

He alleged that over the last one year alone, funds amounting to millions of rupees had been released to different departments but instead of spending them on people’s welfare, political parties misappropriated all the public money.

He said that after coming to power in Sindh, his party would recover the looted public money from plunderes, he said, and added that the recovered money would be deposited in the national exchequer.

“We will raise the minimum monthly salary of every government and private employee to an amount equivalent to the price of one-tola and half-a-tola gold, respectively, so that they should lead a prosperous life,” he said.

“If we come to power in Sindh, we will get residential colonies built in 30 cities and provide houses to the homeless,” said Maulana Soomro.

He said that the march, after passing through different districts, would reach Karachi on Nov 2 where JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman would address the participants.
