ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa seeking action against alleged targeting and harassment of his family members in the grab of fake cases.

According to a letter shared with the media, Mr Saeed said his life is in danger and a plot has been made to assassinate him.

“In view of such apprehensions strict and result-oriented steps should be taken,” the PTI leader requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan in the letter.

The former federal minister said he had already written several letters to former chief justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial about his safety, but unfortunately his requests were ignored.

PTI leader claims his relatives’ home in Peshawar raided and ransacked on Oct 14, family members ‘humiliated’

Mr Saeed wrote in the letter that after the change of PTI government in April 2022, a series of cases have been filed against him with charges of terrorism and mutiny.

The PTI leader said that on Oct 14 police and some unidentified people raided the house of his relatives in Peshawar and humiliated and badly treated them. They also ransacked the furniture and precious items, he said.

Media reports said Mr Saeed was present in the same house, but managed to flee just five minutes before the raid on the house.

At present, he is hidden somewhere, but it could not be ascertained how his letter was delivered to the Supreme Court.

“My wife and relatives have been targeted in revenge despite the fact that no case has been registered against them,” the PTI leader said, adding that like other PTI leaders, he had been implicated in nine fake cases of attacking state properties on May 9.

He said the state machinery was being misused as a tool for political victimisation for last one-and-a-half year.

He said he had raised his voice against deteriorating security situation in Malakand division and for playing a role for restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa he and his family had been threatened with dire consequences.

“In August 2022 some unidentified armed men made an abortive attempt to attack my house, but they fled into the red zone after they were chased,” he said.
