SWABI: Leaders of Local Government Employees Federation (LGEF) on Tuesday demanded of the government to release funds for the tehsil municipal administrations across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to enable them to pay withheld salaries and pensions to their employees.

Talking to mediapersons here, the federation’s chairman Shaukat Ali Anjum, president Anwar Kamal Khan, patron-in-chief Shaukat Ali Kayani and others said majority of TMAs across the province were facing financial crunch due to which they were unable to pay salaries and pensions.

Mr Anjum said the employees of different TMAs had been kept deprived of their salaries and pensions for many months, forcing them to knock at the doors of local council board, the finance department, the secretary local government and rural development and accountant general office.

Anwar Kamal demanded of the caretaker government to take practical steps for solution to the longstanding problems of employees.

Mrr Kayani said the accountant general office should take immediate steps to restore the personal ledger accounts (PLAs) of workers and ensure the payment of salary and pension without delay.
