Judo: Railways to defend title

LAHORE, Feb 8: Railways will defend title in the 2nd national women judo championship to be held at the Mayo Garden from Feb 17 to 19. Army, which did not take part in the first edition, has also raised a team and will compete with full strength.

The other teams which participating are Wapda, Police and four provinces. The championship will be held according to the rules of the international federation. In all, the competition will be held in eight different weight categories which includes below 40kgs, 44, 48, 52, 57, 63, 70 and Open weight group.

The championship will also help the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) to pick some talented players for the training camp which is already in full swing at the Railways Stadium to prepare Pakistan team for the forthcoming South Asian Games to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in August this year. The camp is being run by Iranian coach Mohammed Keyhan.
