RAWALPINDI: The last spell of monsoon in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and some upper parts of the country is expected from Friday (today).

According to an official announcement by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the wind bringing moisture from the Bay of Bengal will cause rain and the westerly waves entering the country will cause snowfall on mountains and other upper parts of the country.

It says that a westerly wave will enter the upper parts on Thursday night and under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorm (moderate to isolated heavy falls) is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) and Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) on Saturday.

Rain with thunderstorm and hailstorm is also expected at isolated places in Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Haripur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura on Friday (today).

Similarly, rain, dust and thunderstorms are also expected in Zhob, Barkhan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar during the same period.
