ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is set to return to the country today (Thursday) after a 10-day trip abroad.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Kakar left London on Wednesday and reached Saudi Arabia on a private visit to perform Umrah.

In Saudi Arabia, the caretaker PM landed at Madina Airport where he was received by Governor of Madina Faisal Bin Salman. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq was also present on the occasion.

According to the PMO, no meeting of the interim prime minister with Saudi functionaries has been scheduled.

PM Kakar had left the country for United States on Sept 17 to attend 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He addressed the UNGA on Friday last. On the side-lines of the session he had met heads of various states and prominent figures.

After a five-day stay in the US, the PM travelled to the United Kingdom, where he had meetings with Pakistani business figures. While in the US and the UK, PM Kakar also conducted interviews with several international media outlets.

An official of the PMO told Dawn that the PM will perform Umrah today (Thursday) and will return to the country the same day.
