MARDAN: Police claimed to have arrested five persons for looting more than Rs7 million from the manager of a pharmaceutical company.

SP Mohammad Suleman told a press conference at his office here the other day that a few weeks ago unidentified robbers snatched more than Rs7 million from Syed Numan, the manager of a medicine company, at gunpoint.

Flanked by SP Inam Jan Khan, DSP Ijaz Khan and SHO Muqaddam Khan, he said that after occurrence of the robbery incident, the manager of the pharmaceutical company told police that he along with his driver Lal Mohammad was taking Rs7.3 million in vehicle to deposit it in a bank located at College Square.

He said that they were intercepted by armed robbers a few meters from their company office as they started moving towards the bank. He said that five robbers snatched the amount from them at gunpoint and fled in a car bearing registration number LES-6627.

The SP claimed that after hectic efforts, police succeeded to trace and arrest the five robbers involved in the crime. He said that police recovered the snatched amount from the robbers. He said that police also recovered a Kalashnikov and two pistols, used in the robbery, from their possession.

The official said that the robbers were identified as Ali Shan, Arsalan, Matiullah, Mohammad Sajjad and Hamdan. He claimed that the arrested men confessed to their crime.
