LARKANA: Boys outnumbered girls by securing top six positions as the girls clinched top four slots positions in science and general groups of the Secondary School Certificate Part-II (class X) annual examination, 2023, held by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

According to the result announced on Saturday, in science group, 47,764 candidates appeared in the examination and 4,442 passed with A-1 grade, 17,905 secured A, 20,380 obtained B, 1623 got C, 21 could make it to D and one was placed in E, respectively, while the result of 573 candidates was withheld on a variety of reasons.

In general group, 1,377 candidates sat the exam. Only 11 could secure A-1 grade, 123 obtained A, 821 got B, 241 secured C and eight could made it to D. The result of 91 candidates was withheld on charges of using unfair means in examination, said a press release.

The first three positions among boys in the science group were clinched by Nasir Mehdi Butt of Cadet College Larkana with 990 marks and securing first position, Ali Kalhoro of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology School and College, Larkana, and Shafqat Hussain Sargani of Cadet College, Larkana, securing equal marks of 989 for the second place and Abdul Mueed Larik of Indus School, Larkana, obtaining 987 marks for the third position.

The top position holders among girls in the science group went to Aliza Mutahir Mangi of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Cadet College Larkana with 991 marks for first position, Iqra Maqsood Shaikh of Quaid-i-Azam Rangers School Larkana with 989 marks for the second and Zehra Magsi of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls Cadet College, Larkana, with 988 marks for the third position, it said.

In the general group, combined positions went to Munwar Ali Zounr of Government (MPL) Higher Secondary School, Larkana, who secured first with 970 marks, Ghulam Mustafa Soomro obtained 951 marks for the second position while Ms Spana Oad of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Haji Fateh Moh-ammad, Shikarpur, got third position with 950 marks. Out of seven top positions in the science group, four went to cadet college students.
