Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, the unique deaf, Native American character introduced in the Hawkeye show, is set to star in her very own Disney Plus series. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to expand, Echo’s journey from supporting character to the spotlight promises an exciting narrative.

All episodes of Echo are slated to premiere on Disney Plus in January 2024, despite ongoing disruptions in Hollywood due to the 2023 writers strike and actors strike.

The series picks up where Hawkeye left off, delving into Maya’s backstory, personal challenges and cultural roots. Marvel hints at an origin tale that explores her Native American heritage following her actions in New York City, including a confrontation with Kingpin. While no trailer is available yet, Marvel’s Echo will consist of five episodes, making it one of the shorter entries in the MCU, which typically runs at least six episodes per series.

Actress Gal Gadot, best known for her role as Wonder Woman, is set to star as Queen Cleopatra Philopator VII, in an upcoming movie to be released in theatres in 2025. Renewed discussion about the movie has been spurred on by the release of a new theatrical poster.

Gadot is hoping that the film will “change the narrative” surrounding the iconic historical figure, who Elizabeth Taylor most famously portrayed in the 1963 movie, Cleopatra.

Gal Gadot comments, “I grew up with so many stories about Cleopatra, and she’s like a household name,” said Gadot during an interview. “You know, if Wonder Woman is the imaginary strong female leader, Cleopatra’s actually the real one.”
