LAHORE: “If the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan’s cease-fire proposals are based on justice, sincerity and good conscience, the Azad Kashmir Government will not only accept the proposals but will offer full co-operation to the Commission in this connection. But, if on the other hand the Commission tries to avoid these principles, the Azad Kashmir Government will never execute the cease-fire order,” declared Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas, President of the All-Jammu and Kashmir Muslim conference, addressing a Press conference here today [Aug 31].
Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas said that if the terms of the cease-fire order were not “honourable and acceptable” the Azad Kashmir Government would not care for the fact that the Governments of Pakistan and India have accepted them but would reject them forthwith.
Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas expressed the hope that the United Nations would … try to regain its lost prestige by settling the Kashmir problem amicably. He said it was evident that as far as Palestine, Indonesia and South Africa were concerned, the United Nations had failed to prove better than its predecessor the League of Nations… .
