KARACHI: The qualifying matches of the second CNS All Pakistan Squash Championship concluded here at the Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Wednesday.

Abdullah Nawaz, Farhan Mehboob, Khakan Malik and Zain Ramzan accumulated victories in the men’s category while the women’s draw saw Amna Malik, Sehrish Ali, Sana Bahadur and Aina Shaikh advancing into the next round.

Khakan downed Usman Nadeem 11-8, 11-7, 12-10 in the all Punjab clash while Wapda’s Farhan routed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Varun Asif 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 in 16 minutes. In the other all Punjab clash, Zain beat Mohammad Farhan 11-9, 11-3, 11-9 and in the last fixture of the men’s category Abdullah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Navy’s Sardar Hassan 11-3, 11-9, 11-7 in less than 30 minutes.

Earlier in the women’s category, Amna, representing Army, overwhelmed Tayyaba Abbass 11-7, 11-7, 11-2 and Sehrish Ali, hailing from Sindh, thumped Punjab’s Fajar Hamid 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 in just 10

minutes. For the final two places in the main round, Sana booked a berth after trouncing Naheed Faiz of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11-2, 11-4, 11-1 while Aina secured the final spot as she got the better of Wania Tahir, also from Sindh, 11-9, 11-3, 11-6.

All the qualified players will vie for honours against top national competitors on Thursday.
