Khanpur police said the wife of Abdul Baqi, a resident of Kohistan, and her two sons were asleep in one of the rooms of their rented house in village Tarairi Muslimabad when during the early hours of Thursday heavy rain lashed the area which damaged a part of the house and the roof of the room where the mother with her two sons were sleeping caved in burying them alive.

However, the man who was sleeping in a separate home and other villagers carried out a rescue operation and recovered the woman along with her two minor sons after an effort of 30 minutes.

The injured were removed to Khanpur Tehsil Headquarter Hospital where the doctors pronounced one of the injured, identified as Sohail Ahmed, 9, as dead while his brother Waqar and mother Mahroof Bibi were admitted. Their condition was stated to be out of danger.
