SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and an adviser to the former chief minister, Abdul Karim Khan was arrested by the anti-corruption establishment from outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, Mardan, on Tuesday in a corruption case.

However, the ATC extended till July 17 the bail-before-arrest of PTI leaders, including former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Swabi tehsil chairman Attaullah Khan, former MPAs Haji Rangaiz Khan and Aqibullah Khan, former election candidate Shah Wali Khan and various other workers. Karim Khan was also among those whose BBA was extended.

Mr Karim along with PTI leaders and workers had blocked Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway near Swabi Interchange for about eight hours and damaged two toll plazas, while protesting the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9.

Meanwhile, the operation to recover the two teenage brothers, who had drowned in the Indus River, entered the fifth day on Tuesday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

The officials said that the rescue teams had covered the Indus River from Swabi district to the Attock Bridge but failed to find the bodies.
