BAJAUR: The police recovered over 39 kilogrammes of hashish here on Thursday and arrested one person.

Taking to reporters, district police officer Nazeer Khan said the drugs, the largest quantity seized in a single day in the district, were recovered from a vehicle in Salarzai tehsil.

The DPO said that soon after receiving the information about the attempt to smuggle hashish by a drug dealer in a vehicle, he directed the Salarzai police station SHO to take instant action.

He added that the vehicle was checked by the police team and the said narcotic was recovered from some secret portions of the vehicle, which was heading towards Khar tehsil.

Mr Khan said the vehicle driver, said to be a drug dealer, was arrested in the action and was later shifted to the local police station after registering a case against him under the drug act.

The DPO said the seized drugs were later shifted to the police lines in Khar.
