Video game hall of fame announces its inductees

The World Video Game Hall of Fame in Rochester, N.Y., announced its 2023 inductees are Barbie Fashion Designer, Computer Space, The Last of Us and Wii Sports.

The four titles were chosen from a field of finalists that included Age of Empires, Angry Birds, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, FIFA International Soccer, Goldeneye 007, NBA 2K, Quake and Wizardry. The enshrined games will be displayed at the Hall of Fame’s new home, which is scheduled to open June 30.

Barbie Fashion Designer, a 1996 PC game became a jumping-off point for the girls’ games movement; while Computer Space, released in 1971, was the first commercially available video game, playable in a coin-operated cabinet.

The Last of Us, debuting in 2013, won more than 200 game of the year honours and went on to inspire a live-action HBO series. And lastly, Wii Sports, released alongside the Nintendo Wii console in 2006, brought motion-based technology to the mainstream of gaming.

Transformers 7 — or Rise of the Beasts is on the way. A sequel to Bumblebee, it will see the Autobots and Decepticons wage war against one another, until the nefarious Unicron arrives and makes things even more chaotic.

The movie follows the prequel timeline set up in Bumblebee and moves to 1994 Brooklyn with Anthony Ramos (Hamilton) and Dominique Fishback (Swarm) leading the human cast. Fans can also expect to see some of their favourite Autobots, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Mirage, Arcee, Wheeljack, Scourge, and Nightbird.

Unicron, the eternal arch-enemy of his twin brother Primus, is also known as Lord of Chaos. He is a planet-eater who is expected to make his live-action debut in Rise of the Beasts. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hits theatres on June 9th.

With the Barbie movie release date just around the corner, a new trailer is exactly what we needed. The new trailer for the fantasy movie has plenty to offer; we get to see a lot happening in the pink plastic world, giant blowout parties, planned choreography, etc.

We also see that in order to help herself get out of a reality-crushing rut, Barbie travels with Ken to the real world. Here, she encounters chauvinist characters, arrests, a suited and booted Will Ferrell that’s determined to get her back into her box. Barbie will hit theatres on July 21, 2023.
