ABBOTTABAD: Former provincial minister and senior politician from Galiyat Sardar Mohammad Idrees passed away here on Saturday due to heart failure, his family said.

His funeral prayers were held on the grounds of the Government Postgraduate College, Abbottabad, in the evening. Later, his body was moved to his native Tajwal village. His funeral was largely attended by people from different walk of life.

Meanwhile, Abbottabad deputy commissioner Khalid Iqbal inaugurated a mini zoo at Shimla Hill Park the other day. The zoo has been set up by the wildlife department with the help of the tehsil municipal administration.

According to wildlife officials, different types of birds and common leopard have been brought to the mini zoo in the first phase.

“In the next phase, other types of animals and birds would also be brought to the zoo, which will see an increase in the number of tourists,” sub-divisional forest officer Sardar Mohammad Nawaz said.
