GUJRANWALA: On Wednesday, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested four people in connection with the robbery of Rs100 million from a cash vehicle last month.

According to City Police Officer Ayaz Saleem, Sheikh Shoaib reported to the police on February 14 that his driver, Waqas Ali, and guards were driving a van full of cash to several locations in Gujranwala.

The four suspects shot at the vehicle at Artali Virkan before escaping with Rs100.8 million in loot. Under the direction of SSP Hasan Afzal, special police and CIA teams swiftly joined the investigation after the local police filed a complaint.

The suspects were apprehended by the police teams in several places, and Rs97.4 million was seized from them.

In order to evade capture, the suspects allegedly continued moving to several places in Punjab, including Vehari, Lahore, and Sheikhupura.

They admitted during the inquiry that they wanted to get wealthy after seeing a movie. After spending many days researching the vehicle’s movements, they performed the crime and fled on February 14.

The accused said that they concealed the stolen money in wheat fields, a pile of rubbish, and the yard of a house. To apprehend them, the police teams carried out more than 50 raids in various areas of Punjab.
