LAHORE: Primary and Secondary Healthcare Caretaker Minister Dr Jamal Nasir has said the medical screening of 400,000 people visiting the hospitals will be completed during the ‘Health Week’ starting on Tuesday.

He said around 52,000 prisoners in the 43 jails of the province have already been screened for various diseases, including hepatitis, TB etc.

While talking to the media at the Govt Samnabad Hospital here on Tuesday after inaugurating the ‘Health Week’, he said there was no shortage of resources, but the “will to do” was needed to perform better.

He also reviewed the activities at a screening camp set up at the hospital and said that the report of total screened patients would be generated soon.

Dr Nasir said around 300,000 people had been screened at the 26 DHQ, 125 THQ hospitals, 108 rural health centres (RHCs) and 36 basic health units (BHUs) of Punjab.

He said the prisoners were being screened for various infectious diseases, keeping in view their health needs. He maintained that the Health Week would be observed on a quarterly basis.

The minister said people might register their complaints against the hospital on 1033 Helpline and the complainants would be intimated immediately after redressal of their plaints.
